In Canada, there are many places where you can shop for used goods. If you come from overseas, you may not have heard of these types of services before, but, in fact, most of the best deals can be found here!

Craigslist & Kijiji

Craigslist and Kijiji are popular online marketplaces that advertise many used goods for sale. You can set up an account for free to buy an sell a wide range of goods and services. Shoppers then contact the seller directly, using the instructions provided in the advertisement.

On Craigslist, shoppers can search through the list of goods that are for sale. There are many categories to choose from, so it makes it easy for shoppers to narrow down their search.

Kijiji also has their website set up in a similar way, where shoppers can search through the Buy & Sell section, or search through other categories, depending upon what they are shopping for.

Both websites offer great deals, but it’s important to be careful, and ask a lot of information from the seller.  It’s very important that shoppers not provide the seller with their credit card, or other secure information, until you are sure that the seller is trustworthy.

Yard sales/Garage Sales

When people want to get rid of things from their home, but don’t necessarily want to throw them away, they may consider having a yard or garage sale.  Yard sales are a great way for shoppers to find quality goods for sale at a cheap price. The best part about yard sales is that the sellers are often willing to bargain about the price, and usually nothing is sold at a set price. Many items for sale at yard sales are often still good quality, but perhaps the previous owner no longer has room in their home, or use for the item they are selling. Yard sales are often advertised in the local news papers, with the time, date and address.

Flea Markets

Although it has a funny sounding name, Flea markets are another great place to find quality used goods. Similar to a bazaar, many people rent a space to sell goods. At a Flea market, bargaining or bartering is very common. Not all items for sale at a Flea Market are used, but a good majority of what you will find is either used, or at a very reasonable price. Flea Markets are often open on weekends, and are found in many cities across Canada.
